Please join us for a unique, three-day event in the heart of the Napa Valley featuring workshops in `ukulele, slack key guitar, Hawaiian steel guitar, and hula, free performances, a film festival, cooking demonstrations, Hawaiian art, and lots of fun for the whole family.
Thursday, October 9 ‘Ukulele Film Festival Bring your `ukuleles and follow the bouncing ball as we strum-along and sing-along to the most memorable `ukulele film moments in history, produced by David Garden, at the award-winning Cameo Cinema in downtown St. Helena. You’ve never seen anything like it! 7:00 p.m. $6.00
Friday, October 10 St. Helena Farmer’s Market Join us for a free performance with a surprise guest at the renowned St. Helena Farmer’s Market in Crane Park. See and be seen listening to great music while sampling organic fruits and vegetables and artisan jams, jellies, oils, cheeses and much more. Nimbus Arts will also be on hand with a related craft activity for the little ones. 9:00—11:00 a.m. Free
Cooking with Keoki Sign-up for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook with Grammy-award winning Keoki Kahumoku (as comfortable in the kitchen as he is on the stage) while he stirs up a traditional Hawaiian menu that will leave you begging for more. Space is very limited for this very special event, so sign up early. 1:00 –4:00 p.m. $35.00
Dancing Under the Stars Join us at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel (a.k.a. Tucker Farm Center) for an evening of dining and dancing that will recall the Golden Age of Hawaiian music on the shores of Waikiki with our very own Makai Gents (featuring Judd Finklestein,) Maui’s original songbird, Robyn Mehealani,Konabob (all the way from—you guessed it—Kona), and the first-ever public performance of the Napa Haoles,who are still actively recruiting volunteers. 6:30 p.m.—???? $85.00
Saturday, October 11 `Ukulele Festival Extraordinaire Free performances all day long at the Upper Campus of the Napa Valley College along with professional workshops in beginning, intermediate, and advanced `ukulele; slack key guitar; slack key bass; Hawaiian steel; hula; song writing; Hawaiian language; lei-making; and Hawaiian arts and crafts. Workshop instructors include: Herb Ohta, Jr., Keoki Kahumoku, Liko Puho, Robyn Mehealani, Ralph Shaw, Konabob, James Hill, and the ever-talented staff of Nimbus Arts. And while you’re there, be sure to visit our very own International Marketplace where you’ll find everything from shave-ice to the finest hand-made `ukuleles. 9:00 a.m.—5:00p.m. Free, except for admission to workshops which is $45 for all day Family pass (for family activities only) is $85 all day
Artist’s Dinner Join us and the other festival artists and musicians at Nimbus Arts’ home base in the St. Helena Marketplace for a traditional Hawaiian Luau prepared by Keoki Kahumoku and crew. Music and entertainment to be provided Hawaiian-style—with audience participation appreciated. Bring your appetites and your instruments. 5:00—7:00 p.m. $15
Grand Finale After dinner, hurry on down to the Tucker Farm Center which will be rocking and rolling all night long with this amazing line-up of `ukulele talent. Forget all your preconceptions about the `ukulele and be prepared to be amused and amazed by the lightening-quick fingers of Herb Ohta, Jr., Keoki Kahumoku, Ralph Shaw, and James Hill. A grand finale, indeed. 8:00 p.m.
